Will Arnett said he thinks that people with tattoos are “boring” in an interview on The Romesh Ranganathan Show podcast

The 55-year-old actor revealed that the people he's come across with tattoos have "little personality" as he shared his controversial opinion

"[They] often are super f---ing boring," Arnett said

Will Arnett is not a big fan of people with tattoos.

The Is This Thing On? star, 55, admitted during an appearance on The Romesh Ranganathan Show podcast that he finds people with tattoos generally “boring” with "little personality."

“I have a very controversial position on tattoos,” Arnett said on the episode released on Sunday, Jan. 25. “There are a lot of exceptions to this rule, but I would say… sometimes with some people, there’s a proportionate sort of relationship between how many tattoos you have and how little personality you have.”

“And I find a lot of people who have a ton of tattoos often are super f---ing boring. Like truly boring people,” the actor said.

Romesh Ranganathan agreed with Arnett, despite having 20 tattoos himself. "Yeah, it's manufactured edge, that's what it is,” the British podcast host, 47, said.

"Exactly right. It's manufactured edge. That's a great way of putting it," added Arnett.

In a December 2025 interview with Rolling Stone, Arnett discussed the not-so-boring personalities of his SmartLess co-hosts and longtime friends, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes, while talking about their hit podcast.

“I wanted to do this thing that would really meet people where they are, and then I ended up doing this thing where it’s just me and my buddies goofing around, which is way better. It’s way more fun,” Arnett told the outlet.

“For whatever reason, it has resonated, which is great, obviously. You don’t want to just do it in a vacuum,” he continued. “But yeah, it’s been gratifying how many people have enjoyed it. I’m still sometimes bewildered that people enjoy it. But I have so much fun.”

Arnett said that he has grown “closer” with Bateman, 57, and Hayes, 55, after doing the podcast together for six years.

“I mean, we’re closer than ever,” he told Rolling Stone. “We’re closer because we’re doing something that we love, and we really enjoy it. It’s fun on different levels for different reasons with people you love. Generally, that brings you closer together.”
