Titans' Cam Ward opens up on joint practice altercations

One of Cam Ward’s biggest attributes that his Tennessee Titans’ teammates talk about is his leadership, and when things got chippy in the joint practice with the San Francisco 49ers, Ward jumped into the fray and put those on display.
After practice, Ward met with the media and opened up about the physical practice and his teammates Dan Moore and Austin Deculus, who were ejected for fighting during the session.
“I let them do them. They’re right for what they did. If I were them, I’d do the same thing they did. They both play with a chip on their shoulder. Even when they did do that, the team rallied behind them. I’m with them 100%. If they did that Thursday, we’re with it Thursday. They’ll learn from it. The coaches already handled it with them. But it’s another moment for us to play as a team.”

While being undisciplined and being ejected from the practice is not the way to start this road trip, the fact that Ward talked to both Moore and Deculus after the altercation and realizes that it was a learning experience and that the team will grow from it is a great sign for the Titans moving forward.
Now, after this rough outing in this first joint practice, both Ward and the organization must regroup and show that growth on Thursday, when the two teams meet in the preseason opener.
