Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed he has tied the knot with Georgina Rodriguez.
The wedding announcement follows a chaotic scene on the Portuguese island of Madeira last Saturday, when a newlywed couple was mobbed by thousands of excited fans who mistook them for the famous pair. Ronaldo rose to fame for being one of the greatest and most decorated football (soccer) players in history.
Ronaldo popped the question to Rodriguez back in August last year, nearly a decade after the couple first crossed paths in 2016 at a Gucci store in Madrid, where she was employed as a sales assistant. Speculation went into overdrive when Georgina posted a photo to her 76.5 million Instagram followers of the couple holding hands aboard his luxury private jet, flaunting their sparkling rings and watches.

The union was officially confirmed when Ronaldo shared a photo on his official Instagram account, showing the newlyweds hand in hand, their wedding rings on full display.
The nuptials come just days after a massive crowd descended on Funchal Cathedral as rumors reached a fever pitch that Ronaldo was preparing to walk down the aisle.

That ceremony, however, turned out to belong to Portuguese couple Fabio Ramos and Fatima Nicole Cunha Teixeira, who are originally from Madeira but currently reside in France, according to The Sun.
Ronaldo had previously revealed that he and Georgina planned to wed following the World Cup, which Portugal exited at the hands of eventual champions Spain after a late Mikel Merino goal.
In a candid interview with Piers Morgan, he revealed, "I hope to arrive at my wedding with the champion's trophy," before confessing that Georgina was the only woman he had ever dated whom he felt compelled to settle down with.
He went on to say, "I'm going to marry her because I believe it's the right time. Not just because she's the mother of my children - but because she's the person I love most."
Ronaldo and Georgina have two biological children together including Alana Martina (born in 2017) and Bella Esmeralda (born in 2022). Their twin boy, Ángel, sadly passed away during childbirth.
Georgina also helps raise Ronaldo's three other children including Cristiano Jr., Eva, and Mateo. These three of Ronaldo's children were born via surrogate mothers, whose identities have been kept private.
Underneath Georgina's Instagram post of their wedding rings, the pair were met with an outpour of love from their fans. One supporter commented, "Congratulations the GOAT." Another fan added, "Wishing you the most beautiful married life." While a third person echoed, "Finally [red heart emoji] the GOAT has tied the knot."
