Zendaya and Law Roach made the most out of The Drama press tour
The actress and her stylist selected bridal outfits that followed an old wedding tradition and translated the theme of the movie, which also stars Robert Pattinson
A PEOPLE Style writer shares why this press run has been one of the best moments to come from the duo
I'm not even close to getting married, but in the past few weeks, I've been feeling an itch to go wedding dress shopping. And I know exactly why.
Last month, Zendaya, along with her costar Robert Pattinson, embarked on a frenzied few weeks of promotion for The Drama, an A24 production about "a happily engaged couple" who are "put to the test when an unexpected turn sends their wedding week off the rails" (per a synopsis of the film).
With the help of her longstanding collaboration with image architect Law Roach, Zendaya turned what could've been a boring ol' press run into a complete fashion show that has convinced even the most apathetic movie-watchers (me) into someone ready to head to the theaters.

Let me preface with the well-known fact that Zendaya and Roach give it their all for every red carpet event. When promoting Dune 2 in 2024, Zendaya quite literally sacrificed her health in a Mugler robot suit in the name of fashion. And when it was time to get back on the saddle for Challengers, the formidable duo leaned into the tennis of it all in a variety of designer outfits tied to the sport (I mean, those Loewe tennis ball heels!). But this journey felt different.
Instead of executing method dressing on a surface level (aka referencing a project through colors and silhouettes alone), Zendaya and Roach actually put together a story within a story that was inspired by an age-old tradition of a bride wearing "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue" on her wedding day. (Zendaya also revealed on Good Morning America that the outfits represented the plot of the story going from light to dark.)

The duo kicked things off in not just something old, but also something very personal to Zendaya, who rewore the Vivienne Westwood gown she wore for her first Oscars in 2015. Their interpretation of the saying continued with her in a custom white Louis Vuitton gown with a black bow-styled train, a Giorgio Armani number once worn by Cate Blanchett and a grand-finale Schiaparelli gown constructed with thousands of hand-dyed silk feathers that created a bright blue ombré effect against the midnight black hue.

In between the four major premieres in Los Angeles, Paris, Rome and New York, Zendaya stepped out in additional looks that pointed to the altar (see the sheer Di Petsa look she wore as an additional "something blue" below). They've been very fun Easter eggs to store in my mental folder of outfits I would wear if I were a celebrity — and now, I guess, a bride.

I might not have been directly involved in the decision-making of this press tour, but the duo's sartorial stint created a fun guessing game that made fans feel like they were in the decision-making room with them. It's something that I haven't truly felt excited about since Margot Robbie and her stylist Andrew Mukamal turned the Barbie press tour into one big round of "Which Barbie will Margot become next?"
It's also been fun to watch Zendaya channel her inner bride since those rumors about her tying the knot with Tom Holland (which Roach claims has already happened) haven't been denied or confirmed.
Now that The Drama is officially out and the press tour over, it's time for Zendaya and Roach to gear up for a long few months ahead with Euphoria, The Odyssey, Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Dune: Part Three all debuting this year. So buckle up, everyone! Looks like Fashion Week will be an all-year event thanks to these two.
