Kate Middleton stayed strong during her brief split from Prince William.

During the Prince and Princess of Wales temporary breakup in 2007, Kate went with her sister, Pippa Middleton, to a party for historian Simon Sebag Montefiore‘s book, Young Stalin.

While at the bash, the future queen of England spoke withjournalist Richard Franklin and the late socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson.

According to HELLO!, Palmer-Tomkinson pressed Kate about how she was doing after the split.

“Fine,” a source claimed the former Duchess of Cambridge reportedly replied. “Really, it’s fine.”

Luckily, Kate and William reconciled and got back together shortly after. The pair wed in April 2011 and welcomed three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The couple has remained a steady force, even as the mother of three battled cancer in 2024.

“They’re at the start of a new chapter,” a source told The Telegraph about Kate resuming her royal duties following her recovery.

“If continuity and stability is what the monarchy is supposed to give you, you only need to look at this marriage,” the insider said about the future leaders of The Firm.

“Whatever has happened in his life, in her life, the continuity and stability of their relationship has seen them through it. They are exactly the same as they have always been. They’re unshakable, the two of them,” the source added.

During an interview on the U.K. radio show Heart Breakfast, William raved over his spouse’s recent visit to Italy.

“She’s been amazing,” he said. “She’s been through so much in the last couple of years, particularly, and she’d been looking forward to the Italian trip a lot.”

“I’m really glad it went well. She spends God knows how much time now looking through all the paperwork,” the proud husband boasted.

“She’s a proper pro on early years, so I’m so pleased it went well for her. I think she came back buzzing,” William added.

According to author Robert Hardman, the pair’s success is largely attributed to how down-to-earth they are.

“They don’t have a great desire to stay in five or six-star hotels, and they don’t live a very grand life,” he told Fox News Digital.

“Their idea of fun is just going for a picnic in the woods of Norfolk or spending time at home in the garden,” the journalist noted.

“It had to be conducted in the full gaze of media scrutiny, but they’re a great partnership and they’re a very close family,” Hardman added. “It’s interesting that they like nothing more than being together in relatively un-grand situations.”

“I think with William and Kate, it really is, unquestionably, a genuine love story,” he concluded.
