Kaia Gerber revealed what she thinks about other nepo babies in an interview with Vogue published on August 11.
The model, who is the daughter of Cindy Crawford, stars opposite Richard Gere’s son Homer in her new series The Shards.
Gerber also revealed the advice she’s given Homer about working in Hollywood with a famous family.
Kaia Gerber has been nepo baby royalty since she was born—and it doesn’t hurt that she’s growing up to look more like a carbon copy of her supermodel mom Cindy Crawford every day. The comparisons have come to a head as the 24-year-old model stars opposite Richard Gere’s son in her new series The Shards—but she revealed her surprising take on the nepo baby debate in a new interview with Vogue published on August 11.

The Ryan Murphy coming-of-age thriller doubles up the nepo baby power with Gerber and Gere, who bring some déjà vu by looking like younger versions of their parents circa the ‘80s. While posing alongside Gere on the cover of Vogue’s September issue, the Bottoms actress owned her privilege while opening up about her complicated relationship with having a famous family.
“I’ve only ever been a nepo baby, and I’ve only ever benefited in my career from it,” she shared. However, Gerber said she’s found herself judging others in the same position, admitting, “But I also find myself doing it to other nepo babies, thinking, like, Okay, show me why you deserve this job.”

The Saturday Night star revealed the advice she gave to Gere about working in Hollywood as the child of an A-list star. “I said to Homer—because the concept is daunting to him, having lived as an adult so far without that perception, whereas I sort of went through it when I wasn’t fully sentient—I said to him, ‘Homer, unfortunately with this show, it’s not like you’re just any unknown actor and people will judge you as an unknown actor.”

However, critiques aside, Gerber said that the discourse has made her “want to work harder” and prove that she earned the opportunities she’s been given as a result of her parents.
In addition to both being the offspring of two Hollywood stars, Gerber and Gere have another thing in common: Crawford and the Pretty Woman actor were married to each other from 1991 to 1995. During the interview, the Euphoria actor revealed how he broached the potentially awkward topic with Gerber during their first meeting.
“Twenty minutes into knowing each other, I was like, ‘Should we just acknowledge the fact that our parents were married?’ She was like, ‘Yeah. Cool.’ And that was it,” he recounted.
