Joy Behar shaded media coverage of her upcoming hiatus from The View.

"I'm taking off the next two weeks. They're calling it a hiatus. It's not a hiatus," Behar said.

Merriam-Webster defines "hiatus" as "a break" or "a gap or passage" in continuity.

Joy Behar attempted to shade media coverage of her upcoming hiatus from The View, insisting that her impending absence from the Hot Topics table "is not a hiatus" — despite confirming that she'd be gone for two weeks.

"There's been a lot of media attention on me lately because I'm taking off the next two weeks. They're calling it a hiatus. It's not a hiatus," the 83-year-old said on Friday's pre-taped episode. Merriam-Webster defines "hiatus" as "a break in" something and "an interruption in time or continuity, especially "an interruption in time or continuity" or "a period when something (such as a program or activity) is suspended or interrupted."

Behar announced on the Behind the Table podcast earlier this week that she would be missing multiple episodes of the talk show in the weeks ahead as she travels to London for her play, My First Ex-Husband. The show is actually bringing in guest cohosts to fill in for her, including Sheryl Underwood, and Whoopi Goldberg who will step in to cohost on Fridays despite typically having the day off.

"Your'e working," Sara Haines told Behar on Friday's show, referencing how Behar's break from The View would be in service of taking her "planned trip overseas" to perform her play with Jackie Hoffman.

"I love that they're calling it a 'hiatus,'" Haines said, using her fingers to perform air quotes. "That's a break, people."

Entertainment Weekly has reached out to a representative for The View for comment.

Speaking of her forthcoming break from The View, Behar discussed her hiatus with the show's producer, Brian Teta, who said, "This is your last podcast for a little bit, because next week you're not going to be here."

Behar then revealed, "Well, they made me bank the weekend shows even though I'm not here. You better tell people why I'm not [going to be on the show]."

The pair then spoke about My First Ex-Husband, while Teta revealed that Underwood and media personality Kara Swisher would fill in on the podcast on select days, with more guests to be announced soon.

Behar isn't the only View cohost to take a long absence from the show this year. Conservative panelist Alyssa Farah Griffin went on maternity leave in February, following the birth of her first child, Justin Griffin.

In her absence, the show also welcomed a revolving door of guest cohosts, including former panelists Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Abby Huntsman, as well as Underwood and MAGA supporter Savannah Chrisley.

The View airs weekdays on ABC.
