Forty-eight years ago today, Charley Pride, the beloved 1970s country musician, topped the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart with his classic hit, "Someone Loves You Honey."

"Someone Loves You Honey" was released in 1978 as the second single and title track on his 24th studio album. After only three months, the track achieved mainstream success, climbing to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. Pride held the top position for two consecutive weeks and remained on the chart for 12, marking his 20th No. 1 hit.

The second single followed the success of Pride's lead single, "More to Me," which also peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. The album's collection of hit material landed it the No. 4 spot on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. Someone Loves You Honey earned a Gold certification in 1978 after selling over 50,000 copies in Canada alone.
